Bought a Wi-Fi extender. Plugged it in next to router. My system is wireless and the back part of the house is slow. Can the extender be in the office or does it stay by the router?

While it is recommend to configure the extender next to the router that is just to ensure a strong signal. After you have configured it you can relocate it. It is recommend that the extender be placed between the router and where you want service. It should be placed in an open, unobstructed area with a strong signal of 3 bars or more. This is to ensure the extender itself broadcast a strong stable signal.
