Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 3.15.1

When installing TP-Link for the very first time, does it get the info for the setup app each time one types "tplinkwifi.net" into the URL field? I don't remember getting a CDROM or anything else when I bought my 1751 router.

And one more question:

Software version 3.15.1 works with my V2 hardware. Will software version 5.xx also work and if not, what is the latest software that will work with my V2 hardware?

  @Skeezicks

tplinkwifi.net is hardcoded into the router.  It is simply a DNS resolution of the default gateway and is only used to access the router UI while connected to the LAN of the router.

Frimware is dependent on hardware version so firmware for newer hardware will most likely not work and could damage the router.  It is recommend to only attempt to install the firmware for the hardware version you have and for the regional version you have.  This means we do not recommend for instance installing the US V2 firmware on a EU V2 and vice versa.

If tplinkwifi.net is hard-coded into the router, why all of a sudden (after updating my Win 10 system to version 19045.2673, that is) does tplinkwifi result in a message telling me to use 192.168.0.1? Regarding the firmware question...Then I guess that version 3.15 firmware running on a version 2 hardware router is an exception. Just curious. The above setup works for me.
