I have my RE450 range extender setup to extend the network provided by a NETGEAR Nighthawk. The 2.4GHz band works fine, but the range extender can't connect to the 5GHz network. I think this is because the host network has "Smart Connect" enabled. This means that both bands on the host network have the same SSID/password, and the router decides which band each device should use. Any ideas to get the 5GHz network to connect. I'm not willing to turn off Smart Connect.
