TL-WR1502X - Reboots and fails to connect as Hotspot in hotel

A few days ago, I purchased the TL-WR1502X, set it up, and configured it, and it worked perfectly at home as a Hotspot (connected to my home WiFi network). Because I'll be traveling for the next several months, I wanted to make sure that the router would work as expected, so last night I came to a hotel to connect to their WiFi and ensure that the router would work as expected. - Confirmed that the router was still in Hotspot mode.
- In iOS Settings, I connected my iPhone to the TL-WR1502X's broadcast SSID (Jay Peetz) in WiFi.
- In the Tether app, I was prompted for the router's admin password and entered it.
- I then connected the TP Link router to the hotel's WiFi (Toll House) and waited as the settings were applied. As the percentage got closer to 100%, the router rebooted and the LED turned red.
- The router came back up, and within the Tether app I tried to connect it to the hotel's WiFi (Toll House) again, and the router rebooted as it previously had.
- I tried again, and was able to connect to the router to the hotel's WiFi (Toll House) within the Tether app.
- The Tether app then instructed me to connect to the router's broadcast SSID (Jay Peetz) from within the app.
- I connected to the SSID, and the router rebooted, turning red.
- Frustrated, I waited for the TP-Link to reboot and connected my iPhone to the TP's SSID (Jay Peetz) in Settings. In the Tether app, I was now successfully able to connect to the hotel's WiFi (Toll House). However, the router was now showing that though it was connected to the hotel's WiFi, Internet Connection showed "no internet."
- I quit the Tether app, unplugged the TP-Link router, and started all over, repeating connecting to the router's SSID (Jay Peetz) in Settings WiFi, launched Tether, entered my admin password, within the Tether app I connected to the hotel's WiFi (Toll House), was prompted to connect to the router's SSID (Jay Peetz) from within Tether and connected within the app. Then the router rebooted!
I gave up on setting up the TP-Link router and left to get dinner, leaving the router flashing red! When I returned from dinner, the router LED was blue, and all of my devices (AppleTV, iPad, and MacBook Pro) that I'd left in the room were connected to the router's SSID (Jay Peetz), Internet Connection wasn't showing "no internet" and Network Status was "Online." I confirmed that my devices had routable IP addresses and could connect to the internet. I then connected my iPhone to Jay Peetz, and it worked as expected.
I have no idea why my efforts weren't working, and I wasted 30 minutes attempting to setup the TL-WR1502X, only to return to the room to find it working as expected. Initially setting it up at home was easy peasy, taking only a matter of minutes, which is as expected. I've set up and configured many routers over the years for myself, friends, and family, but I've never experienced the frustration that I did last night with this router, and I don't want to undergo that again. Does anyone have any idea what was going on that was causing the router to reboot when I connected to it? Or why it wasn't connecting to the internet but ultimately did when left alone for an hour and a half while I was away at dinner? I've since been able to connect it a VPN host, and it's worked flawlessly since.
