Mesh network crashes and reboots when using the iOS app
this is a new issue for me but seems like it was an issue for many in late 2024 and early 2025.
When I use the app to look at connected devices or try to update firmware the entire network goes down and restarts. It seems to crash the primary node. This can be reproduced at will.
I have 3 X4300 Pro and 2 X20 nodes.
X20 firmware is 1.2.4 Build 20241227 Rel 63367

Okay, I understand that when you use the Deco app to view connected devices or attempt a firmware update, your entire Deco Mesh network crashes and restarts, affecting the primary node. This issue can be reproduced consistently and involves both X4300 Pro and X20 nodes.
Here are several methods and troubleshooting steps for updating firmware and addressing firmware upgrade failures on Deco Mesh systems:
Firmware Update Methods:
1. Via the Deco App: The Deco app will automatically detect new firmware updates for your devices.
2. Auto-Update Feature: Some Deco models support auto-update, which can be enabled in the Deco app. This feature allows Deco to automatically detect and update firmware when the network is idle. To enable, open the Deco app and go to MORE > System > Firmware Update > Auto Update.
3. Manual Update via Web Interface: Download the firmware file from https://www.tp-link.com/support/download/ and access http://tplinkdeco.net to manually upgrade the firmware.
If the upgrade is not successful via the Deco App:
• Reboot all Deco units and try the update again.
If the firmware upgrade fails via the web interface (e.g., error message "failed to upgrade" or the process keeps spinning after uploading firmware):
1. Ensure the firmware matches your Deco product. Different hardware versions may require different firmware files.
2. Deco does not officially support downgrading firmware, so make sure you are using the latest firmware from our official website.
3. Reboot the entire Deco system and try again.
Notes:
• You cannot update firmware when the Deco is in factory default state; you must set up the device first.
• While downgrading firmware is generally not recommended, it may be possible via manual update (method 3 above). However, not all firmware versions support downgrading.
If your network crashes and restarts specifically when accessing device lists or updating firmware, this may indicate a firmware compatibility or stability issue. Please ensure all Deco units are running the latest firmware available for their model and hardware version. If the problem persists after following the above steps, please contact TP-Link support and provide details about your network setup, firmware versions, and the exact steps to reproduce the issue.
