Yes, you will be able to control both devices on the different networks. All devices will be bound to the one account, and once the devices are set up in Kasa, remote control is automatically enabled.

What if you want to isolate your bulbs to an NoT SSID that only has routing to the main network which is also a different SSID?

Example.  NoT network is 192.168.30.0/0 and is on its own SSID.  Main network is 192.168.0.0/24 and on its own SSID.

I have proper routing setup and can ping across, but Kasa doesnt see the bulbs unless its connected to the same SSID.

Is ther a way to make this work?  BTW.. NoT does not have access other than NTP out the WAN.

Thanks!

@jwbtx

The issue is that the bulbs do not have access to the WAN so there is no cloud point where you would be able to control all of them.

If that is the setup you want to have then you must go onto the respective Wi-Fi network.

@dmondial

How can I find out what netblocks I would need to open up for?

In todays world, very leery of having anything on my main IP blocks other than my personal devices.

All Nests/Alexa etc go onto IoT and home automation goes onto NoT.

Looking at the code, I might be able to just use the app to program then home assistant to control by IP.

cheers

Hi Tony, Can you please elaborate on how the remote control is automatically enable for two (2) different wifi's? I have the same situation as OP where we want to control kasa devices on 2 different networks.

@mstats

After setup remote is already enabled, but if it is not, look at the device settings. If you do not see remote control, then it is enabled, if something blocked it then you will see it.

So if you want to control plugs in different networks, you just set them up as you normally would.
