Another: TPlink wont connect to wifi
Hi
I bought a TPlink HS110 but I can't connect it to my home network. I'm fairly certain it's a problem with my own router, but I was hoping for a list of reasons why I might fail.
So far I've tried a few things:
- HS110 can connect to another wifi at another location (the smartplug must work)
- It won't connect from a new android running Oxygen 10
- It won't connect from older iPad running iOS 13,5
- It won't connect to our guest wifi (I get an error about it being public and insecure).
- I've tried reinstalling the app
- I've tried resetting the swith by pressing the "home" bottom for 10-15 seconds (several times).
- There's no DNS settings on the router
- I've tried disabling the 5Ghz band on the router
- There's no password restrictions on the wifi it connects to?
Any ideas?

-Change your wireless security. If you have WPA, change it to WPA2-Personal. If you have WPA2, change it to WPA. Set up the plug, then put it back to where you need it.

@Naggert Following. I just spent more time than I should have trying to get our KP100 (Kit) setup. I have an S10 on Android 10. The iPhone we tried is on 13.5.1. Neither of us are able to get past the screenshot you posted. We have Amazon plugs and WeMo plugs, and both are tech saavy. I'm starting to think there was a reason why these were marked down so much at the Sam's Club where we got them from. Specifically, the phone will auto-switch to the plug, then it switches back, and after about 30 seconds or so, the plug will change from blinking blue to flashing blue and orange as if it was doing initial setup. We are able to direct-connect to the plug and operate it that way, but we bought these to integrate with Amazon Alexa.

@Tony omg that fixed it!!
I changed it from WPA2/WPA mixed personal to WPA2 personal and voila!
Cheers, now I dont have to climb a wall to turn on my PC!

@Naggert YES! Thank you! That worked... and now, more than ever, I need to start ordering parts to rebuild the home network and put all these IoT devices on their own VLAN.

I was also able to fix this issue by changing my wifi security from WPA+WPA2 PSK to WPA2 PSK. My original HS110 device bought 2 years ago did not have this problem.
Device 1 HS110
HW ver 2.0
Firmware ver 1.5.7
Device 2 HS100
HW ver 4.0
Firmware ver 1.0.2
Once I had the HS100 connected to wifi an update was available to Firmware ver 1.1.2. Once this update was done I was able to return my wifi security settings to WPA+WPA2 PSK.
I spent about 3 hours working on this so thanks for posting..

had the same problem 'wouldn't connect'. Went to WiFi settings on my iPad and saw the tp link WiFi. I connected to that (for no logical reason) and then went back to the app to try to reconnect. It then found MY WiFi and asked for the password AND connected!!
fyi, I have 3 WiFi names in my house and I WONDERED if it was connecting to the correct one.

@Tony how do you switch from WPA to WPA-2? I was hoping for a simple plug and play connection.
