We have a bulb that we like to keep on until everyone goes to bed. At that time, we turn the light off using a voice command or the app. However, the light is scheduled to gradually decrease in intensity through the evening (50% at sunset, 20% at 10 pm, 5% at midnight, etc.) and if it is turned off before the final drop in intensity, it will turn back on at that time.

Is it possible to create a feature where, when a light is turned off, that state will override any other intensity schedule commands until a defined time? I've looked through doing it via IFTTT but can't find anything that does what I want. If anyone has advice, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What you can probably do is call a preset by tapping on the bulb, going to presets, make a preset for which every intensity. Go into the bulb device settings, then go to default states, and in the "On from App" select the preset.

So understand what benefits your users are after and then deliver on them through features that are the least time-consuming and resource-intensive to build.

Hi,

I was having this exact issue as well and was getting frustrated trying to have the lights slowly dim. However, within the Kasa app any scheduled dimming would turn on the lights that were disabled. There's a way to do it within Kasa if all you want to do is have the lights slowly fade out, but that doesn't change the Whiteness and has to be done with the 60 minute fade out, which I'm sure you have tried.

There's Hope though! I was able to configure my lights within the Samsung SmartThings app. The app is able to run automations based on time of day and on the Status of the Bulb. So for your example it can run a if 10pm and bulb on set dimmer to 75% and Whiteness to 2800k. Now if the bulb is not on nothing will happen and the bulb will remain turned off.

Let me know if this works! Its a bit of a workaround, but it's all bundled within a pretty handy app.

Happy to help troubleshoot more if needed.

Regards,

Watt
