Model: Tapo C720
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I have the floodlight camera installed, it's powered on and camera works well, but I can't get floodlights to turn on in any way using the App. I have been through the app extensively and any troubleshooting support seems related to camera only. Could the lights be defective? Any suggestions? And if the lights are defective, can I leave the part that is wired and replace the lights/camera part without having to get an electrician to remove/replace the wired part and just attach the new part? Thx

  @KBKM,

I would verify that you cannot turn them on in any way, such as by turning them on manually through the app first.

If this is the case, you would most likely want to get in touch with our support teams directly, as they will be able to quickly troubleshoot your behavior and process any replacements that are needed. I do not believe that I have seen this behavior before, especially if the camera is functioning as expected.

When going through the process, it is likely that you would need to return the entire item. You can speak with support, but it is required that all parts be returend during the proccess. It is possible, either way, that you could get a more up to date version with a different mounting mechanism (however I do not think the C720 has ever changed its mount)

  @KBKM

Firstly as Riley mentioned you should always be able to manually turn the floodlight on and off via the app. If you cannot then it's likely you have a faulty unit.

For it to turn on when you walk past it there are a few things to note.

Firstly it needs to be dark, they don't activate the floodlight during the daytime (or not that I'm aware of anyway). Secondly you need to check the settings for the floodlight to make sure you have it set up correctly for detection.

If you go into "floodlight settings" then "auto on settings" there you can set the "sensor" so you need to make sure you have a tick in the sensor detection area (I only have middle ticked as that works for me). Then set your sensitivity level. 8 seems to work good for me.

For reference I have "floodlight schedule" OFF. That means whenever it's dark and someone comes into the PIR detection zone my floodlight will come on (you can change how long it stays on for in the settings). If you wanted to set the schedule you can make it so it only comes on between certain times.

Hope that helps and you get it sorted 👍🏻
