C125 Pairing Failure on Asus BE7200/BE88U Router
I currently have multiple (15) Tapo/Kasa bulbs, plugs, and switches setup in my home along with many other smart home devices. I recently purchased a two-pack of Tapo C125 cameras. No matter what I do though, I cannot finish the setup of the cameras on my home network. I have tried everything I can think of. I have zero issue with connecting any other of my Tapo/Kasa (or any other brand for that matter) devices to my network.
My network is setup as follows:
Router: Asus BE7200/BE88U (Firmware Up-to-Date)
AiMesh AP: AX88U Pro (Firmware Up-to-Date
Separate VLAN setup for IOT devices. This VLAN is diassociated with/not connected to the AiMesh AP. That is, this VLAN only utilizes the BE88U router. Also, this VLAN does NOT have any of the following turned on at this time: MAC filtering, DHCP reservation, AP device isolation, VPN, AdGuard, etc. DNS servers are currently set to Cloudflare servers.
I was able to connect with and fully setup/configure the C125 cameras utilizing my iPhone's hotspot with compatibility mode turned on. I updated the firmware of one of the two camera's even without issue.
However, I cannot finalize the setup of the C125's when attempting to connect through my home network. The steps I have taken dozens of times at this point (regardless of the network configuration as outlined further below), are as follows:
- Plug In Camera
- Reset Camera utilizing side button with eventual red and blue flashing LED
- Add a device using the Tapo App (Updated last night) on my iPhone (and iPad as well)
- Reset the device in the Tapo App
- Connect to the afore-mentioned VLAN wifi (the iPhone and iPad are both connected to the same wifi)
- The camera LED begins flashing blue and an annoucement is made "Connecting to WiFi"
- Within a very short time period, the LED begins flashing red and an announcement is made "WiFi Connected"
- The app then changes to the pairing screen but eventually times out with a Pairing Failed message
- Eventually the camera will revert back to having a blue and red blinking LED
Looking at my router's system log, the following entries related to the camera's MAC address are present. (Looking at the device list of the router though, the camera never shows up)
- Apr 5 08:54:53 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(696): wl0.3: Auth xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, status: Successful (0), rssi:0

As for the specific configurations of the VLAN's wireless settings, I have tried the following: 2.4Ghz/5Ghz, 2.4Ghz only, WPA2 encryption, WPA/WPA2 encryption, and different DNS servers.
I have tried every hack, tip, FAQ, and help I could find online from TP-Link's documentation to Reddit posts. I have rebooted by router, ISP INT, and the cameras so many times, I have lost count. I have tried so many different VLAN configurations that I have even broken a portion of the my home automation system. Obviously, the cameras can finalize their setup process as was proved out with my phone's hotspot. Also, some may say there is an issue with my router or that this is an Asus issue. However, these two C125 cameras are the only two networkable devices that I have ever had issues with connecting to my network. I even have multiple other Tapo/Kasa devices connected to this same VLAN without any issue whatsoever.
It is quite possible that I have missed or am missing something blatantly obvious. If that's the case and this is an easy fix, I will be very happy. However, I cannot figure it out. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT/ADDITION: I just now have installed a Tapo D225 Doorbell cam. I connected the camera to my home network (IOT VLAN) using the Tapo app with not one problem and it is working perfectly fine. The C125's still will not finish setup/pairing.
