I attached the Tapo s515 to my old light switch and was able to attach to wifi and set up the light.  But the light only turns on, not off.  When I use one of the "dumb" switches, the lilghts blink on and off and the Tapo orange light clicks on and off (no green)

I verified that the black wire is a load wire and tried switching the traveler wires, but I get the same result.

 

I also removed on of the lightbulbs in the two lights, so I know it's not overloading.

 

Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?

  @MrPicc I have this exact same issue with a 3 way configuration.  Did you solve the issue?

LED blinks orange means the Tapo S515 is resetting, which doesn't seem like a normal phenomenon. For such cases, we recommend emailing support.usa@tp-link.com for further technical assistance.

I may have the same issue, did you resolve yours?

 

the switch amber light is blinking, and my lights are turning on and off every second or so. I wonder if I didn't connect correctly the switch, I have a 3 way.

 @MrPicc The issue I had was that I did not realize the switch needed to be the on the first switch with a line in for constant power.   

I had to physically move the switch.   

I was replacing a Belkin Wemo wifi 3 way switch because the Wemo line is being end-of-lifed and Belkin is pulling support for the APIs.

Seemingly the Wemo switches can be put on either end of the 3 way, but the Tapo must be first in the chain where the line in is.   

I had to install a new manual 3 way switch to replace where I had the Wemo switch which took the 2 traveler wires from the Tapo switch and then had the load out to the light.

The pain for this was that I had to pull out the ground wries and neutral and rewire them at both switches because the Tapo switch needed them and I had a dumb switch there before which didn't, and then on the other end, where I had the Wemo, I was using the ground and neutral wiries but did not need them for the dumb switch I put in on that side.

FWIW, I highly recommend using Wago lever wire connectors.
