Hi - I just bought a C425, which is my first experience with a home security camera. I'm following the setup steps per the app, but when it gets to the point where it's going to connect to my WiFi it fails. The message I receive says it's either a wrong password (that's not it), I'm not close to my router (I'm in the same room), or I'm using WPA3-Only encryption on my router.

 

That last one I don't know about. I have an eero7 mesh network setup and to be frank I used the default settings out of the box. I don't know anything about networks or WiFi encryption settings.

 

Has anyone had luck connecting the C425 to an eero7 network? If so, could you walk me through any particular settings or steps I need to change?

Tapo C425 supports 2.4GHz WiFi in WPA/WPA2-PSK. The camera might fail to connect if the WiFi is 5GHz and uses WPA3.

 

We suggest checking the wireless settings on your router. If there are any parameters configured that the cameras do not support, please adjust them accordingly. If you don't know how to adjust router wireless settings, consult the router support. Download Manuals for Tapo C425

Additionally, since you are using a mesh network, try temporarily disabling the 5GHz WiFi and turning off the mesh feature. Then, try to reconfigure the cameras. Once they are successfully set up, you can re-enable the 5GHz WiFi and the mesh feature, which should not impact the cameras' connection status.

  @thelowendHz I had a similar issue and it rurned out to be an extra space at the end f my password for the wifi. I just manually typed it in and after that all good. Also on the Eero app if you go into settings and troubleshooting you have some options there to disable wifi 6 so it only uses the 2.4ghz band.
