Tapo H100 hubs stopped processing all real-time event data
Firmware update broke the H100 Hubs again.
Listen up people, Tapo has released new firmware that changed the communication from the H100 hub to the cloud server. ![]()
Whats affected: TAPO T31 kits with the Tapo H100 hubs or the basic H100 hub.
The H100 Hub stopped processing all real-time event data (door, motion, smart button) after the overnight automated update. The hub is online, and my temperature sensor is still reporting data, confirming it's not a full loss of connection. I have performed every troubleshooting step, including factory resetting the hub, deleting and re-adding the sensors, and reinstalling the Tapo app. This appears to be the known firmware bug affecting the H100 event handler.
This needs immediate attention! ![]()
The Solution: Replace the hubs. That's right, no Rollback, no firmware update.. get an RMA and replace the HUB. ![]()
The cause: The sensor reports to the hub, the hub uses WiFi to connect to the TP-Link Tapo servers, the cloud processes the information, smart actions or just the basic logging of the sensor data, like the contact sensor sees an open or closed state, or the motion sensor sees a motion or no motion or the smart button was pressed or turned.
WHY: The communication in now broken for the H100 hub, the cloud doesn't send any response back to the TAPO android app.
The hub is working, its shows up in the app, the pairing process for the sensors works, the connection to the nework and internet works, everything works except the cloud is not processing the sensor data back to the app. No event log or any log information is sent back to the Tapo app.
This was most likely due to the new H500 hub, a way to force end of life to the H100 hubs. ![]()
Who's affected: You, and anybody who has these hubs. The firmware update was intentional.
