I have a house full of TP-Link devices. Between cameras, routers and numerous light switches it's over 40 nodes. Two of my many HS210 light switches in particular have been problematic over the years in not reporting their actual on/off status back to the Kasa or Tapo app. I can control both the HS210s via the physical switch or the app but the app is often out of sync with the ON state of the switch, ie the app reports the switch as off while it's actually on. I have over 20 light switches installed, many of them also HS210s but only these two are creating this problem. I have replaced the physical switches with new ones but the problem persists in just these two locations. Both are very close to the WiFi router and have excellent signal strength. If the switch is off and I use the app to switch it on, the switch responds immediately and the icon will initially show the light as on before returning to an off state while the actual light is on. 

This is unique to just these two switches, make any sense?

Do you use the HS210 with a dumb switch to build a three-way connection? Or using two HS210s together?

 

Based on your description, it seems like the switch shows as 'Off' in the app most of the time, correct? Or does it fluctuate randomly between on and off states?

  @Wayne-TP one HS210 and a dumb switch to complete the 3 way. Generally the app shows the status as off irrespective of the physical switch position of either the smart or dumb wall switches. I also note that if I switch the lights on with the app, the icon briefly shows the light as on but then returns to displaying the light as off. 
 

I have replaced several with the Tapo equivalent switch and they all appear to work without issue. Same identical circuit/load/wiring.

To clarify, is this issue isolated to these two particular HS210 switches? From your initial description, it appears other switches also exhibit the same problem when installed in these specific locations, is that correct?
