H500 is no longer able to "see" my WiFi network.
Greetings,
I recently purchased and set up a Tapo H500. It worked fine for about a day, but then things started to go sideways. Today, I noticed that camera recordings were no longer continuous. When I checked the H500, it displayed a message saying to connect the Ethernet cable—even though the Ethernet cable was already connected.
For context, my network setup includes a Ubiquiti DR7, a Unifi Pro 7 AP, and a Ubiquiti managed switch. The switch showed a blinking light on the port (indicating activity), and the Unifi app confirmed the H500 was connected. However, the LAN LED on the H500 itself was off.
I power cycled the unit, and that seemed to help temporarily. But shortly after, I noticed there was no signal strength showing. When I checked again, the H500 wasn’t detecting any WiFi networks at all. I tried another power cycle—this time leaving it off for 10+ minutes—but still no WiFi networks are being detected. At this point, I’m wondering: is this a firmware issue, or do I need to exchange the unit through Amazon?
Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences. Thanks!
Update:
I replaced a Eufy E330 Pro focused on my Driveway with a Tapo C246D and this Hub recording 24/7, so I could not wait on a response. I factory reset the device and now it will not re-add. It seems that it will have to go back to Amazon. I'm super disappointed. I don't think I've ever had a brand new device just fail one day later like this. Not sure if there's ver. 2 hardware out there, but I hope the same thing doesn't happen again or all of my Tapo cameras are going back as well, in spite of how much I like them - I got them due to the features on the H500.
