Model: Kasa KL125
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 4.6 (?)

I bought a 2-pack KL125 bulbs and both refuse to connect to my wifi network. I already have two other TP-Link devices set up on my Kasa app, so I didn’t expect this to be much trouble. Here are the stats:

  • I’m running the latest version of the Kasa app on an iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS18.6.2
  • 2.4 GHz wifi is enabled
  • VPN on my phone is disabled
  • Wifi password is saved in the app (it’s correct, I checked)
  • Other devices (2 Kasa smart plugs) are connected through the Kasa app and working fine

Setup works as expected until the wheel of “Connecting Smart Bulb to Your Home Network” spins forever, eventually landing on the “Unable to Connect to Your Wi-Fi Network” screen. And then I have to reset the bulbs after each try. I did about 20 attempts (10 each bulb) and am wondering if I should send them back… or is there a fix?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Try rebooting your entire WiFI network first, Then reboot your cell phone and try to add them again and see what happens.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

Don't use the saved password, try to enter it manually instead. If there are several SSIDs in your network, make sure your phone is still connected to same WiFi as the smart bulb.

If your WiFi is a 2.4GHz and 5GHz combined network, try to separate them, or temporarily disable the 5GHz.

Try connecting the smart bulb to another network, such as a guest network or a hotspot Wi-Fi.

Ensure your Kasa app is updated as well. You can try to delete and reinstall the app.
