Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.23

I bought this less than one week ago. It's paired with a T310 thermometer/hydrometer and a T100 motion sensor.

Twice in the last three days, it has simply stopped working. I can tell it's the hub failing because the thermometer has gaps in the data it is collecting and the motion detector stops responding.

  • The first time, it dropped-out for about one hour and restored itself
  • The second time, I noticed the temperature data had not been recorded for about three hours. This is when I tested the motion detector, which was not responding too.
  • Actually, it failed a third time, six hours ago, as I just discovered. The Tapo app (iOS) shows it's connected to my Wi-Fi network and operating normally. The problem appears to be inter-device connectivity via TP-Link's proprietary low-power network. The hub and my two sensors are about 12' and 24' from the hub, with a clear line-of-sight. The thermometer is in a refrigerator, but that not the problem since both sensors stop working.

  • The firmware is up-to-date
  • Hard reset, between the first and second occurrences, made no difference

Any ideas, before I return it to Amazon and order another?

I've installed almost 20 TP-Link smart home products in my home over the last 10 years and this is the first time I've had an issue. 😑

There is never a wrong time to do the right thing
