Are Auto-Empty Docks linked to the vacuum?
Monday
Model: Tapo RV30 Max Plus
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Curious to know whether the vacuum and auto-empty dock are "linked" to each other or if a dock from one RV30 Max Plus set can be used with a different RV30 Max Plus vacuum.

Does Tapo have any plans on selling auto-empty docks as a separate item down the line?

As mentioned in an earlier post (last year), my auto-empty dock no longer collects the dust from the vacuum as it constant reports "no bag present or lid is not closed".   Both are false - bag is present and lid is closed - but the error will not clear.  Unfortunately, there is no way in the app to override that "check" as well, so the collection unit is nothing but a charging base now.

I love the vacuum itself, but it's only partially functional.

The dock for RV30 Max Plus is not sold separately. But if you're able to get one somehow, it can work with your robot vacuum, the docks are not exclusively paired with a specific unit.

About the dust bag error, please make sure you're using a Tapo dust bag. Problems might occur when the vacuum uses non-Tapo accessories.

Listen for a click when you put the dust bag in—that’s how you know it’s locked in place. If you don’t hear it, take the bag out and try again. Power cycle the dock might also help.

If the suggestions above don’t help, then further assistance is needed from the support team. Contact Technical Support

It is a Tapo dustbag - I purchased them through the link on the TP-Link page (it goes through Amazon).

There is an audible click and I've done the bag in, bag out thing ad-nauseum.  I've also power cycled the doc.  It's definitely an error within the unit itself - either the switch is bad or the wiring/connection is bad.

Tech support won't help - this was a device received during the beta test for the RV30 Max Plus.  As such, Technical Support will not provide any assistance whatsoever.  I thought they might at least want to get the unit back to see if there was a manufacturing defect they needed to look at - but they were not interested in doing that.

I guess I'm kind of out of luck then.  I guess I'll look around at various thrift shops or on other sites where people sell no-longer wanted items.  Thanks for letting me know that they are not exclusively paired with a vacuum.
