Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I just bought several Tapo devcies (motion, water and temp senors) including two different hubs. All the sensors paired properly except for one T100 motion sensor which will not pair with either hub (the second hub is in my garage as it is 150' from the house). I tried using borth Android and Apple phone apps as I have found sometimes one will work where the other will not. All devices are in close proximity for pairing and the hubs are on a wifi network with other Tapo sensors connected successfully.

It's just this one T100 that refuses to connect. I have tried multiple times and reset for each attempt. I have also tried a new battery, and I have tried on both hubs with both phones. I just get "Connection failed" every time. If it helps, the animated connection display never shows the white line with arrows indicating a connection that it did with all the other sensors (IIRC)

I assume I have a dud T100, so should just return it? I ordered from Amazon, so returns aer easy enough. Thanks

You may want to check the nation code of this sensor, if it is from another country or region, such as the EU version, then it won't pair with a hub in US version. What should I do if my Tapo Sensors or Buttons won’t connect to my Tapo Hub?

Interesting - how can you locate the code? I ended up sending the senor back for credit - I will reorder

I checked the boxes I have (from the sensors that worked) and they all say US after the serial number and a V number which I assume is firmware. Maybe I got an EU sensor by mistake?

Thanks - checked the link and it is indicated as I had assumed This is IMO one of those things that new users shouldn't have to deal with. I'd put it in the bucket with "won't work with 5G wifi networks" in that it is both frustrating and never seems to produce valuable error messages to guide the user. At least the country code is probably a requirement for the "FCC" licensing, but the 2.4/5G thing is getting pretty old and some networks (Google mesh) have no easy way to split them

May I ask if you purchased this from an international or third-party seller? If you bought it directly from an authorized retailer (like Amazon’s official store), this issue is less common.

We typically don’t recommend buying products across countries. Models can differ to meet local regulations, which may cause compatibility problems when used elsewhere. Also, TP-Link doesn't provide international warranty, so if service is needed, it must be handled in the country where the product was originally sold.
