Tapo T100 Motion Sensor to Trigger Tapo D225 Video Doorbell Recording
Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to trigger video recording on a Tapo D225 Video Doorbell if motion is detected on a Tapo T100 motion sensor?
I just switched to Tapo devices from a competitor's video doorbell that had that feature and may switch back if Tapo devices do not have that feature.
Thanks in advance!

Is there a plan for it to be supported in the future? If so, do you have a timeframe?

Adding new product features is a process that requires comprehensive evaluation and tends to have a long implementation cycle, so I can't tell you if or when this feature might be supported in the future.
I’d recommend posting this idea in the Feature Requests section with a title like “Trigger Doorbell Start Recording via Automation.” That way, other users who feel the same can upvote it and join in. Posts that become popular and include detailed context, like explaining your use case or why the feature would be helpful, are the ones our team looks at first when deciding what to work on.

To provide more context, I live in a high traffic area and the AI does a good job of filtering out false detections. However, with all that filtering it's doing, the doorbell battery drains within 2 weeks. A motion sensor trigger will really help alleviate the need for the AI filtering and prolong battery life.
Just to clarify, even if the doorbell did support this feature, it might not fully solve the situation you described, since the sensor or the recording won't change how the doorbell's detection feature works.
If there’s activity outside the motion sensor’s zone but within the doorbell’s own detection area, the doorbell will still wake up. On the other hand, if activity is inside the motion sensor’s detection zone, it could actually cause the doorbell to be triggered to record more frequently. Starting a recording uses significantly more power than just waking up, which could lead to faster battery drain than you’re seeing now.
