What should I do if I cannot install the driver of TP-Link Network Adapter in Windows computer?

Case 1 Unable to run the setup wizard

 

If you see the message above. you may already have the driver installed.  Try uninstalling existing driver then reattempt the installation.

 

Case 2 Can't detect the adapter

 

Step 1 Go to Computer Management>Device Manager>Network Adapter.

a. if the adapter shows up, install driver.

b. if the adapter is not there, plug the adapter to another USB port/PCI slot.

Step 2 Install the adapter on another computer to see if it can be detected.

Step 3 Contact TP-Link support with the results of the above testing.  We may ask additional questions to narrow the issue down.

 

Case 3 Blue screen

 

Step 1 Make sure the operating system of your computer is compatible with the adapter. If you aren't sure, please contact TP-Link support.

Step 2 Copy the dump file (click here) and send it to TP-Link support.

Step 3 Check information of system (Type msinfo32 in the run command window) and driver (Computer Management>Device Manager>Network Adapters>Right click Properties of the TP-Link adapter>Driver).

Step 4 Contact TP-Link support with the results of the above testing.  We may ask additional questions to narrow the issue down.

 

Case 4 Can't use other devices, such as mouses, keyboards, etc. after installation

 

Step 1 Please use different USB port/PCI slot.

Step 2 Please check information of system (Type msinfo32 in the run command window) and driver (Computer Management>Device Manager>Network Adapters>Right click Properties of the TP-Link adapter>Driver).

Case 5 Failed to install driver

 

Step 1 Make sure the operating system of your computer is compatible with the adapter. If you aren't sure, please contact TP-Link support.

Step 2 See if the adapter appears on Device Manager.

Step 3 Uninstall anti-virus software and disable firewall if any.

Step 4 Install it on another computer if possible.

Step 5 Contact TP-Link support with the results of the above testing.  We may ask additional questions to narrow the issue down..
