What Controls Are Available to Tapo Vacuums via Matter?

Released On: 2025-03-04 19:29:32Last update time: 2 weeks ago

Recently, the Tapo RV30 Max Series was updated to support Matter!

This is the very first of our vacuum models updated to support Matter, and our team appreciates and feedback or experience you have with the future as we prepare for the next series of Matter releases and updates.

Just as you are, our team is exploring what is possible with the feature, and we would be more than happy to talk to our development and product teams for more information and details on what can be expected in the future.

What is the Process for Matter Configuration?

  • If the Device Ships with Matter Compatibility and Scannable QR Code
    • A vacuum may be set up in the Tapo App first, or Directly Added to a third-party app.
(Note: When added to a third-party app without the Tapo App, the vacuum will clean algorithmically, not according to a floor plan)

  • Devices Received Matter Compatibility via Firmware Update (Current Majority)
    • Vacuums must first be set up normally through the Tapo App.
    • Device Settings > Matter Setup Code
    • Start and Complete Matter Configuration in Third-Party App

What Controls are Available to Third-Party Platforms?

Every platform provides a different set of controls for robot vacuums; however, the core features relate to:

  • The vacuum's docking state (Docked, Headed Home)
  • Starting Whole Home Cleaning
  • Adjusting the Cleaning Mode (Power) of the Vacuum
