Our team is currently working the booth at CES! If you are at CES and have a chance, feel free to stop by and introduce yourself or ask about any of the devices being shown off.

fb815b066ff4449c8640b43039e5d487Otherwise, our team will periodically stop by our CES Reddit threads to answer any questions you may have, show off our floor displays, and allow for real-time feedback on the announced devices.

Hey TP-Link Community,

This year is already looking to prove itself as one of the most exciting years for Tapo so far. We have more than a few technologies under development that will change how you interact with your devices and how your devices are able to interact with each other.

We are sharing so many exciting things this year, but our team wants to highlight a few so they don’t get overlooked.

  • New Atom Link Lighting will take advantage of Bluetooth Mesh 1.1 and Wi-Fi to create a seamless and synchronized experience between lights, switches, and scene remotes.
  • New Tapo NVR Systems and PoE Experience Bring Local and Secure AI Detection
  • New Dual Lens Cameras

You can find our complete coverage of CES on our Product Overview Page Here

or View all of the Announced Models Here

*CES is a global event and any products or technologies seen or announced at CES are not guaranteed to be released, and not guaranteed to see a release in the United States. Specifications and features listed here may also differ from any final product.

If you are particularly excited for a device’s release, leave a comment with what device you would like to see, why, and how you would use it in your home. We will then take this to our product and R&D teams for further consideration.

Tapo Smart Lock with Palm Vein and Fingerprint Recognitionbb41942b841f46e7b5f2ce6becb7909f

Following the release of the Tapo DL110 Smart Door Lock last year, we are excited to additional locks with various unlock methods, styles, and for different installations.
The first smart lock seen at CES this year was our Smart Retrofit Fingerprint Lock, which allows you to secure your deadbolt without having to install additional external hardware. The second is our smart lock with both palm vein and fingerprint recognition. This is our first contactless door lock and brings many appreciated ease-of-use features, without compromising on security.5b845d041bca4aad88b147e2f140586b

Palm Vein Recognition – Your Palm Vein Patterns are extraordinarily unique, even among twins, and allow for both stronger protections and contactless unlocking. Most interestingly, the technology is so accurate that it is unaffected by dry, wet, dirty, or even potentially injured hands.

Unlock Methods: Palm Vein Identification, Fingerprint Recognition, PIN, Remote Control, Local Bluetooth Control

New Tapo AtomLink Lighting Solution

cb5df5cdea384bf5a76cc53ac18d3cb9Perhaps the most exciting announcement from CES this year, was TP-Link’s AtomLink technology which  will bring unprecedented synchronization and control of your lights.

Dual Transmission Methods: AtomLink devices will use both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Mesh 1.1 (released earlier this year) for reliable device control. Bluetooth Mesh will further allow your devices to connect to each other and even will allow devices outside the range of your Wi-Fi to connect into your network through another AtomLink Device.

Matter Support: AtomLink devices are shaping up to ship with Matter Compatibility, which will allow you to benefit from AtomLink's experience while not preventing you from automating and interacting with your devices from another service.

We are still learning about the benefits that AtomLink plans to bring, however we are already seeing a few features that it will satisfy many of our community’s top requests. We will share more details about the technology and what you can expect over the coming months.

  • Smart Recessed Downlights – Another new product line for Tapo, Downlights are our latest type of smart light and are able to make use of AtomLink to replace and control your recessed lights.
  • Mate Switches – Among the announced products, we also saw glimpses of our first smart switch intended to be used with your smart bulbs for seamless control.
  • Sensors – Expect to see our current lineup of Sub-G sensors both expand in availability and compatibility. Seen at CES for the first time is the Tapo T150 Human Presence Sensor, which is actually our first multisensor and looks to have temperature, PIR, and ambient light sensors, on top of the new mmwave radar presence sensor.

From the Booth:

Descriptive Notifications for Tapo Doorbells

I really quickly wanted to share one of the coolest features I was able to use from CES (even though it tattles on my pink vitamin water). As a part of our AI assistant, we were able to see the new descriptive notifications being developed for our cameras. These were shown as a secondary notification to the button press whenever the doorbell on a TD25 was rung:

6706cae2beb54c8aa9d10573cf7536b3

This really opens up endless possibilities and makes it all the easier to know what is happening in your home, without necessarily needing to open the Tapo App every time. From my experience, the notifications will describe who is at your door, what they are doing, and what they may have (such as drinks, packages, or papers). This is only a small part of the new AI assistant features, but it was one that really made my jaw drop.
