Can I use SG2424 managed switch as unmanaged
Hi, a tech newbie here, and thanks very much in advance for your response to the following question!
Here is my current home network setup: a modem to a router (4-port) to an unmanaged swith (8-port) to my devices. So totally I have 10 ports going to different rooms.
I'd like to expand the # of ports (have to be wired), so I just bought a pre-owned 24-port SG2424 smart switch. I intended to replace my 8-port unmanaged switch with this newly purchased 24-port "managed" switch, or even just tag it along in my setup. I have already reset this SG2424 to factory defaults by pressing the reset button > 10 sec, and it seemed it did reset. According to tp-link, the default IP address for SG2424 should be 192.168.0.1.
Here comes my question:
Can I just use this SG2424 "managed" switch as a "unmanaged", plug-play switch without any reconfiguration? In another word, can I just connect one of the 24 ports on SG2424 to my router with an ethernet cable and power it up?
PS: the default IP address for the SG2424 switch should be 192.168.0.1. my IPv4 address is 192.168.2.x, and IPv4 GNS server is 192.168.2.y
PSS: configuring the SG2424 manually is out of my current skill set at this moment.
