Model: HS100
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.5

As few months ago I noticed I could no longer operate my HS-100 (or HS-110) plugs from the Kasa app.

I tried removing the plug from the app and performing a factory reset on the device but the behaviour is unchanged.

In the app I can see the state of the plug (on /off) but I'm unable to change it in the app. If I physically press the button on the plug I can see that change of state in the app.

If I try to change the state of the plug in the app I get the wheel but after quite a while it stops and nothing has changed.

Today I tried using the app on another phone and again performed a factory reset. During the setup (which worked as described in the instructions) I was asked to update the firmware. After everthing had finished I was still left unable to control the plug via the app, but can still see the plug's state.

When checking the plug I noticed the firmware had still not updated.

Once you setup the device is your phone on the same network as the plug or a different network?

@Carl

No. I'd set the plug up on the guest Wi-Fi and my phone is on the home network. Once I switched my phone to the guest network I could control the plug.

I can control the plug when using 3G, so why the difference when using different Wi-Fi networks?

When you sign in to the Kasa App tap on the plug and then tap on the settings icon.  Check if Remote Control toggle is available and if it is toggle it.  If remote control is no enabled this would be the results.
