How to wire HS200 when switch has 1 black wire also going to a second switch
I have a 2 switch panel in which I want to replace only one switch with the HS200.
From left to right:
Switch 1: Controls the outside lights and it is the only switch that controls the lights
Switch 2: Controls the inside doorway light and it is the only switch that controls the doorway light.
I want to replace Switch 1 with the HS200. However, there is 1 Black wire coming from the box wrapping around Switch 1 and going to Switch 2.
Here’s what I am thinking on how to wire the switch and need some expert advice if it is correct and safe to do:
- Take the first black wire and wire it to HS200 Black Wire 1
- Take the second black wire that wraps around Switch 1 and wire it to HS200 Black Wire 2
- Connect copper wire to HS200 Green Wire
- Connect the white wires in back of box and wire to HS200 White Wire
Is what I described above the correct and safe way to do it?
