@Riley_S

Will the HS200 versions also be made HomeKit compatible?

  @Chancleta,

I can't say for sure that it will or will not be, howwever since the KS200 is an upgraded version specifically meant to bring HomeKit compatability I am inclined to believe that it requires additional hardware to utilize the service.

  @Riley_S The only hardware requirement that I am aware of was a security chip. That security chip was initially required for all HomeKit accessories. However, in 5 years ago in 2017 Apple removed that hardware requirement opening up HomeKit compatibility to the masses simply via software programming. I know several manufacturers that added HomeKit compatibility to existing older devices when that hardware requirement was lifted.

Now that doesn't mean the processor and etc. aren't limitations for the HS devices that prohibit the addition of HomeKit, they may be underpowered and can't efficiently run the additional programming to add HomeKit compatibility.

  @Bald_Beaver,

Thanks for the info, I was unaware that Apple had removed the hardware requirement. I will try and look into and speak with our tema about whether or not we have any plans to do something similar in the future. However, the HS200 and 220 were relatively old models compared to what Kasa is releasing now, so the devices may also be limited by their normal hardware, as you mentioned.

  @Riley_S I'm a little confused on the numbering scheme.

These new switches that are HomeKit enabled begin KS, yet the KS230 3-way dimmer switch is not HomeKit enabled.  Why is that?

  @TosaKerry,

Unfortunately, I am right with you on this one. The naming schemes have remained  The KS does not indicate that a device is a Homekit device by default as the Homekit Functionality can be found across product lines.

The part of the Model Name that would normally indicate a feature of the product is at the end of the name, such as the EP40A, or in the case of our new matter devices KP125M. This is still simply a general guideline for users, as more and more devices will begin to include these features by default; and some devices that include Homekit compatibility may not have a different model name at all.

As soon as these devices were released, our team submitted a request to have official documentation on what devices officially support HomeKit, so users do not have to compare every version of a product. When the doc is released, I will post a list of the devices to the forums also.
