Hello all. I have a KP405 single outlet outdoor smart plug controlling my Christmas lights. I just plugged it in yesterday and I'm getting an overheating error. I put an amp meter on it and I'm only seeing 5amp of current draw. I dont understand why it's overheating at 1/3 max capacity. It's plugged into a porch outlet away from the elements and rain.

The KP405 is not a normal smart plug with a 15-amp capacity.  In fact, it is much lower than that.  As a dimmer, the plug is only designed for  Dimmable LED (MLV) - 150W Max  or  Incandescent - 300W Max if you combine this with the voltage 125VAC the amperage is around 2.5 amps maximum.  If you are hitting 5 amps you are overloading the product.  You would want to look at the KP401, KP400, or EP40.  All 3 support up to 15 amps and would better handle the current load you have
