Congratulations, TP-Link—You’ve Out-Dumbed Dumb
If you enjoy paying over one-fifty ffor a ‘smart’ deadbolt that arrives with the IQ of a potato, the Tapo TP-Link lock is for you. Not one, not two, not even three—but FOUR essential screws were missing, rendering this ‘WiFi-enabled’ marvel a glorified paperweight. The only ‘smart’ feature here is TP-Link’s ability to gaslight customers into thinking their QC isn’t a circus act.
Fun fact: Tapo was absorbed by TP-Link in 2021, yet somehow the merged ‘innovation’ is shipping incomplete products. Bravo!*
Pros:
- Great for teaching patience.
- Excellent conversation starter about corporate incompetence.
Cons:
- Literally unusable.
- TP-Link’s support will suggest you ‘check the box again’ (yes, I dismantled it like the Zapruder film).
To TP-Link: Your lock doesn’t secure doors—it secures its place in the Hall of Shame.
