Model: Tapo TD25
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.2

I want to install the 25 hardwired and have it operate the existing chime I have for my push button doorbell. This is how my old Ring Doorbell worked before it died. I have 14v to the 25. When I touch the two wires together at the 25, the chime works as desired. I have tried using the jumper wire on the chime but then neither the push button or the TD25 will operation the chime. I think I have disabled the continuous recording mode on the TD25 but it still does not operate as desired. I do not have an SD card installed currently. Any advise? Thanks.

The jump wire is there to bypass the physical chime unit, so with it installed, your chime won’t ring.

For your case, here are some suggestions:

1. Remove the jump wire and go back through the physical installation steps to ensure everything is wired correctly. How to install Tapo Doorbell (Tapo D235/Tapo D225/TD25)
2. Factory reset your doorbell. *Press and hold the SYNC/RESET button for 5 seconds.
3. Set it up again very carefully. When you get to the wiring setup in the app, make sure you select the options that match your actual setup:

  • Confirm you are using the existing doorbell wires for power.
  • Disable “Always-On” mode. This is crucial. If you want 24/7 recording, you need a different setup that fully bypasses the chime.
  • Select that you want to use your existing traditional chime.
