SOLUTION
Another example of great TP-LINK Technical Support!
Their senior engineers built an Android beta app Kasa v1.7.3.626 which solved the problem.
All my Smart Bulbs and Plugs are now working remotely.
My contact was: cassie shao
Thank you TP-LINK...
:)
==========

Model :

Hardware Version :

Firmware Version : Updated all bulbs and plugs to the latest firmware.

ISP : Spectrum, TWC

Everything was working great before the Kasa Android update to 1.7.3.625,
I use a TP-LINK C5400 router and nothing was changed on my end.
How do we get this working again? Please HELP.

SMART BULBS
are not marked "Local Only"
but they are "Local Only". Remote Control does not work.

SMART PLUG MINIS
all marked "Local Only"

SMART PLUGS
all marked "Local Only"

I am having the same problem

Once my phone updated to this version, I can no longer control my smart plugs or smart switch via a cellular network.
Is there any plan to fix this?

When the issue happened, can you enable the "Remote Control" on the Kasa APP? Is there any error message?

Remote Control is enabled for all my Smart Bulbs and Smart Plugs.
There are no error messages. Devices have the latest firmware.
None of the Smart Bulbs or Smart Plugs can be used remotely.
For the Smart Plugs, Kasa says "Local Only".
There is no indication for the Smart LED Bulbs but they can only be activated locally.
I believe that Remote Control was working OK for my devices before the Kasa Update.
My TP-LINK Cloud Cameras are working OK both locally and remotely.
This is with a TP-LINK Archer C5400 router, that has not been changed.
Since nothing was changed on my end, I suspect that this problem is at the TP-LINK server.

My 2 HS100 smart plugs and my HS105 mini-plug, along with my HS200 smart switch, are all set to enable remote control. I get no error messages, just a statement in red that says "Local Wi-Fi control only." As Bluechip notes, nothing has been changed in my setup other than the latest Android update.

I am setting up a new switch (HS105) and when I click on Remote Control to Send Verification email, I never get an email - I've checked my spam folder as well, so is there another way to enable Remote Control? Thanks :)

English Translation re ekofman: "What happens to me is that the green light appears and disappears for seconds. And a message that says "device unreachable" appears. My phone is a Lenovo S660 with Android 4.4.2. With the previous version, from Kasa everything was OK. However from my Ipad with IOS9 it works fine. I have not changed anything I think the problem with version 1.7.3.625 is TP link."

Since this problem may be with the new Android Kasa update. Instead of asking users to needlessly spend their time jumping through hoops, could a TP-LINK engineer please investigate whether the problem is a bug in the Kasa Android update or some issue at the TP-LINK cloud servers. Much thanks.
