Model: Deco M5
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.4

I have 3 M5 units connected in AP mode and using ethernet backhaul.

I have configured both the main host wifi network as well as the guest wifi network.

dhcp is handled by the firewall/router to which the main M5 is connected.

my question is -

how can i distinguish between host and guest clients at the firewall level?

do these clients get tagged with different vlan tags?

currently is seems that all I have is basically 2 wifi networks that can't interact with each other but since their traffic goes to the fw in the same way, they both end up being able to access all other resources.

@AnonyOne

Hi,

Normally, the main network and guest network has a different Wi-Fi name, so you can distinguish the two network through the Wi-Fi name.

On the Deco M5 with firmware 1.4.4, it has an isolation switch for the main network and guest network in Access Point mode. If you enable this switch, in the AP mode, the guest network is unable to access the main network.

@TP-Link_Deco

I appreciate the response but it seems you didn't read my question at all.

I want to be able to distinguish the connected clients at the firewall upstream and create policy rules accordingly.
