Deco X50 external Access TPLINK.DNS / Web Adress
Deco X50 external Access TPLINK.DNS / Web Adress
I purchased a Deco X50 3 Set and I am very happy with my purchase. Everything is working nicely, but there remains one annoying issue. I cannot access my Synology Diskstation externally. I Forwarded Port 1080 to my DSM but I cannot get through. I have a dedicated domain for my Diskstation which stopped working after switching from my previous Negear Router to TP-Link. The same goes for TP-Link's DDNS Service domain.tplinkdns.com. Entering domain.tplinkdns.com:1080 does only deliver a "website can't be reached" error. I cannot say many good things about my Nighthawk AC2300 but I never had problems getting through to my Diskstation.

The default Synology DSM port is 5000/5001 for HTTP/HTTPS. You've changed that to 1080 or it's just a mistake ?
Any other devices in your network (e.g. ISP modem/router) connected before the X50 ?

@terziyski I changed it to 1080 since it is the only Port that is open at the place where I work

That's fine, but you didn't mention are there any other network devices connected in front of the X50.
Have you checked if the X50 WAN IP address corresponds to your public IP address ?
There's could be a good chance that your X50 is behind a NAT already and that will block your external access to the Synology NAS.
You can check X50 WAN IP address here:

@terziyski Sorry, there is a Vodafone cable modem leading to the deco but it is set to bridge mode. As I said, I had the same setup with my earlier Router and no problems forwarding 1080...

How about the other port forwarded services, are they working fine - Webstation, rsync, FTP, Plex ?
You can go through this troubleshooting guide and check if it helps to resolve the problem.

@terziyski Good morning, I can get access to DSM via quickconnect.to/servername and to Plex via plex.tv. With Plex l get an error message, that I do not have a "direct connection" to my server and steaming quality may be compromised". I can connect externally to the PCs within my network via Teamviewer If use my dedicated domain and the corresponding ports 1080 and 32400 or FTP on Port 22 I get nothing. The same picture if I use my public IP-Address:port. Port forwarding is not working as far as as I can tell.

Thanks for the update.
Please also try to turn off UPNP on the Deco APP to see whether it made any difference.
At the same time, I might need to forward your case to the senior engineers and could you please help me confirm the following information:
1. Are you able to access Synology Diskstation in the LAN via 192.168.68.90:1080?
2. Could you please reply to the email with a screenshot of the IPV4 setting on the Deco APP.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@David-TP Firstly let me thank you for the great support effort so far.
I would not have expected this from you and the TP-Link Community and I am
truly grateful. Now to your questions:
1. Are you able to access Synology Diskstation in the LAN via 192.168.68.90:1080?
Yes I am able to. Please see screenshot below.
2. Could you please reply to the email with a screenshot of the IPV4 setting on the Deco APP.

Are you sure that your Vodafone cable modem is in bridge mode ?
From your last screenshot - Deco WAN IP address is a private IP address in 192.168.0.0/24 subnet (192.168.0.36).
That means the Deco is already behind a NAT and it's doing a second NAT to the 192.168.68.0/24 subnet where your Synology NAS is (192.168.68.90).
And that's the reason for not getting access to these services from an external network.

Hi, Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
I see the IPV4 address here 192.168.0.36 is still a private address, and the public IP you got would be the gateway of the Vodafone modem router.
I think the port 1080 has been opened on the Deco X50 already but there is just another firewall out of Deco, within the Vodafone modem router.
Since you mentioned Nighthawk AC2300 with the same settings, the external access works great on the DSM, are you able to help me run a simple test:
1. Temporarily switch Deco X50 to access point under Deco App>More>Advanced>operation mode>Access Point mode.
2. Then there is no need to do any port forwarding on the Deco anymore, please check again whether the DSM could be accessed via an external network.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.
