ER8411 VPN Client broken
So i have had the new ER8411 for a few days and most things seem to be working ok except a big one is the lack of vpn. Controller will allow you to create a new vpn and configure and even save but it never comes online and the vpn client section in insights is blank.
I assume this is one of many things broken in early firmware for this router but are there any ideas on a time scale for fixes as i have seen someone else report the issue in forum too ?
Hardware will have to be returned if the software is not going to be fixed.
Thanks

tell us a little more about your VPN setup, do you have OpenVPN SSL VPN and IPsec (site to site or L2TP VPN)
I have found that OpenVPN and SSL VPN do not work so I have to use my old ER605v2 router for OpenVPN,
Contacted support but it's like trying to get help from a rock so I've given up.
you can get it to work partially if you use TCP instead of UDP in OpenVPN, but it's very very slow. SSL doesn't have any option to use UDP so it won't work.
according to TP-Link, OpenVPN or SSL VPN does not seem to work together with IPSec VPN, they recommended TCP on OpenVPN, my problem was that all IPsec was destroyed if I configured OpenVPN or SSL VPN
IPsec VPN works pretty well for when deleting OpenVPN and SSL VPN ,

I tried openvpn client to site but that does nothing as far as i can see, also the option for only setting that vpn for select ip's rather than the whole lan seems to be missing too. Used controller 5.7.4 then moved to 5.8 but no difference i assume it needs firmware updates but concerned that will take too long. I've not had a chance to try ipsec but i'm not getting filled with confidence here lol. I was hoping we would be leaving the poor support and lacking features behind with unifi.
I just tried Openvpn Client tcp over 443 and nothing from that either.

Ok, so you want to use ER8411 as OpenVPN Client? You use TCP and port 443 in the remote end?
that should work I guess, the problem is UDP according to TP-Link.
is there a Omada device in the remote end or is it a OpenVPN server?

yes, I agree with you, but it has always been like that with the tp-link routers, there is always one thing or another. but we'll see when there's an update soon, I hope they do a little extra with this, which is supposed to be a high-end product. but as it is now it doesn't look so good.
You should contact support and make them aware of the problem.

Dear @weewillywinky,
Have you upgraded your ER8411 firmware to the 1.0.2 firmware which has fixed some VPN issues?
ER8411 V1_1.0.2 Official Firmware (Released on Jan 30th, 2023)
If not yet, please try and update the firmware for checking.
If the 1.0.2 firmware doesn't resolve the issue, we may need to check your detailed network setup for further analysis.
BTW, could you please tell me the TKID case number so we can check the record of your case for better assistance?

Yes i am on the latest firmware which was barely worth releasing don't you think ? I don't know what your development department is doing but you are destroying any potential omada has completely.
I can not recommend your products to any of our customers currently and am myself ready to ditch the lot and go elsewhere.
