New Features & Enhancements:

 

1. Add support for Deep Packet Inspection.
2. Optimized logic for Auto IPsec to select WAN port.

 

Bug Fixed:

 

1. Fixed several security vulnerabilities.
2. Fixed the bug of slow speed of IPsec VPN.

 

Firmware Download:

 

Before the Upgrade

(1) Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Beta firmware!

(2) You may follow the following guide to upgrade your Omada devices. How to Upgrade/Downgrade Omada Gateways

ER605(UN) V2_2.2.3_Build 20240112 (Beta)

Notes:

(1) The above firmware is applied to ER605 V2/2.6.

(2) Your device’s configuration won’t be lost after upgrading.

(3) Please make sure the firmware version before upgrading is ER605(UN)_V2_2.2.3 Build 20231201, otherwise the firmware upgrade will fail.

 

Additional Information

All feedback is welcome, including letting us know about successful device upgrades.

If somehow you encounter an issue during or after the ER605 router upgrade, it's suggested to contact us with the following info:

  • Omada Controller version 
  • Device Firmware version with Build number (previous and current)

 

If your ER605 router gets bricked during the firmware upgrade, you may follow the guide below to recover the firmware.

Updated 10 of my remote sites and DPI is working like usual.  

 

No Issues upgrading.  All is working so far.

Upgraded 3 remote site, 

absolutely no problems with the upgrade. everything seems to work as well

and VPN site to site has become even faster. it is absolutely incredible how fast this router is with ipsec sit to site.

Network security and application control

 

I don't have a hardware controller myself, but I think I remember reading that hardware controllers don't have this function.
so if you can't find it, that's probably why.

  @MR.S oh. I hope they will implement the DPI also in the hardware controllers. Just like with ER605 v2, which they said before that its hardware does not support it, so I am still hoping to be implemented in the hardware controllers.

  @ceejaybassist yeah its in the latest notes for the beta controller;

3. DPI: Added support for Deep Packet Inspection in Site view > Settings > Network Security > Application Control, which helps you to manage your network traffic through Application Layer. (except the OC200 and OC300)

 

not sure about the reason, maybe its a work in progress and will be enabled in the final release..

I have an unusual request - could someone with an ER 605 v2 router with Firmware Version: 2.2.3 Build 20240112 (Beta) installed show screenshots of what the new Deep Packet Inspection functionality looks like?

To describe my setup:

ISP with DUAL Stack, router with integrated cable modem. I'm able to set a switch port of the router to bridge mode to connect a separate router directly to the cable modem. The ISP then issues a second IPv4 address and give a IPv6 prefix /59.

With any other router like a openwrt or similar, this is working fine.

 

The ER605 instead is able to connect initially and gets a /59 prefix delegation but after a short while it drops this and IPv6 connectivity is lost for router and everything behind.

This is the case since I got this router one year ago to get started with Omada.

 

If I connect the ER605 to the router/cable modem (without bridge mode), I get a prefix fine and stable.

 

How can I help TP-Link to debug and finally fix this.

I think I might run into this before. Is this prefix given by your ISP?
