Kl430 led strip only half syncing

Hi
I have an issue with my led strips where the first approx 30cm of the LED strip syncs with the app when I select a scene. After this the rest of the strip just flashes in rainbow colours.
I've made sure the connections don't have any dust and it's not happening at a join either.
I've reset the strip and it still does this.
Any ideas?

Looks like a hardware issue to me. You may reach the retailer or local TP-Link support to proceed with the warranty.

How long is your light strip? When you choose a solid color, is the overall color of the strip consistent?
Try to factory reset the light strip instead of soft reset (remove WiFi settings).
Factory Reset Kasa Light Strip
Press and hold the light switch controller for 10 seconds or more and then release. The light strip animating orange and green after that indicates a successful factory reset. Then you can reconfigure your light strip on the Kasa Smart app.

strip is 2 metres.
Everytime i try to reset via the 10sec+ button, all it will do is turn off for 2 seconds then the LEDs will flash rainbow colours. (never the green + yellow like the app says)
doesnt matter if i do it for 10 seconds or more.
