Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello.  Just bought a ER605 router as well as a RE550 WiFi extender (both from TP Link) as my main broadband router is in another room and I didn't want to buy a long 20M ethernet cable to plug it into my ER605 router.  Instead I'm pairing the RE550 WiFi extender with my main broadband router via WPS and then connecting it via an ethernet cable into Port 1 (WAN) of the ER605.  I'm then connecting the ER605 to my laptop as well as my PS5 so that I can run some speed tests for various online games.

The problem I'm having is that I'm unable to get any internet to my ER605.

I talked for hours to support who said i need to configure the WiFi extender as an access port: How to configure the range extender as an access point (new logo) | TP-Link

But the problem is that after I do this my WiFi Extender doesn't sync up with my broadband router via WPS whereas before on the default setting (Range Extender) it did sync up but I couldn't get any internet to ER605 either.

Does anybody know how to resolve my dilemma?  Is there any way I can use my WiFi extender to deliver internet to my ER605?

Please let me know.

Thanks!

Hi @al7861

Thanks for posting in our business forum.
Pair up your RE and check if you can get Internet from the RE wired and wireless.

If you can get Internet, then plug in the ER605 and log in to your ER605 by 192.168.0.1. If this IP or subnet is conflicted, you should change the LAN IP from ER605 to a different subnet. Then plug it in and set WAN as a dynamic IP address. Then it should work straight.
