AX55 Firmware 1.3.2 Build 20240325 rel.56896(4341) - Issue with Parental controls
AX55 Firmware 1.3.2 Build 20240325 rel.56896(4341) - Issue with Parental controls
Here we go again...
I have previously written a thread regarding 'parental controls', and how upgrading firmware breaks it.
A downgrade back down to the previous firmware [downgrade to (AX55(CA)_V1_1.2.3 Build 20230603] solved the 'parental controls' issues I was having.
I skipped two FW loads, and through I might try this latest one, but again, Parental control has been broken. What the hell.
Summary:
- before the update, everything worked fine. Parental controls worked as expected
- after the update; only 'online time' works; the other tracking features don't twork anymore (most used apps, top visited websites, block history)
Issue details:
before the update, Router, and parental controls worked perfectly...
I decided to upgrade to the lates build 1.3.2 Build 20240325 rel.56896(4341), since I couldn't find anyone online identifying any issues with it... so I went for it.
However, now there are issues with my kids new parental control profiles (Tether app) - See image
- under 'most used apps' - no data
- under 'top visited websites' - no data
- under 'block history' - no data.
these sections were populated before the firmware updated.
restart/reboot router, has not had any effect.
I tried recreating a 'user' under parental controls, but nothing works.
anyone else see this issue?
Not sure if there's anything to be done on my end... or if i need to wait for a firmware update...

@Happyguy1 I read your post and went to see if the failure was indeed due to the fact that I updated to the version you mention and everything seems to be fine. Blocks good, lists most viewed sites good, pauses connection good. Maybe you should try a factory reset and try loading everything again.

thanks for the reply... yesterday I did a Factory Default Restore (option 1 = Restore all configuration settings to default values, except your login and cloud account information).
After factory reset, I did a 'restore' to my settings from a backup file created before the restore, using the "restore / upload file" option.
only one of the devices listed under parental controls started to show 'website logging', and that only lasted a few hours.
No change to all the other devices listed. today, same status for all devices
- under 'most used apps' - no data
- under 'top visited websites' - no data
- under 'block history' - no data.
I also deleted kids profiles, then recreated them. no dice.
I can't find this firmware version on TP-link's website (Canada), so I don't know if I can revert back to the old FW that worked...

do not restore from file! manually upload your settings. If the error is in the configuration, when you restore it you would drag the problem over and over again, while if you leave it at the factory and add settings one by one you will be able to know which one is wrong.

Thanks!
I redid a factory reset, this time manually re-configuring everything, still doesn't work properly.
I added one child's profile first, waited to see if any data capturing occured (it didn't really), then I added the second child's profile. Again, capturing info is spotty
Conclusion:
- Online time shown works for each profile created.
- Online time 'graph' is not accurate (shows no time)
- most used apps does not capture data
- top visited websites does not capture accurate data (1 to 5 websites only - seems only capture websites for less than a few seconds, then stops)
- block history does not capture data
- 'built in' mature content filtering does not work (i tried, adult sites still come through)
- manually adding a website to the 'blocked websites' seems to work ( I added a site, tried to navigate to it, and the router blocked it).
- rebooting device didn't help.
so, something is still buggy.
I have an email into TPlink support
they too recommended I do a factory reset, recreate the profiles, then report back... hopefully a ticket will be created for this.

Great!
However, I'd like to know if I can downgrade this firmware to a known 'working' version?
1.3.2 build 20240325 isn't posted on TP link's website yet (i.e. no notes whether I can downgrade...)
Firmware 1.3.2 Build 20240325 rel.56896(4341) -----> downgrade -----> Archer AX55(EU)_V1_1.2.3 Build 20230603
thanks.
