Firmware Update Request for Enhanced IPv6 Support with Multiple ISPs and Load Balancing on the ER605
Dear TP-Link Support Team,
I am using the ER605 V2 router, managed through the Omada OC200, in a business environment with three ISPs, utilizing the load balancing feature. However, I am facing a significant limitation with IPv6 support. In this infrastructure, the ISPs do not provide Prefix Delegation (PD), which requires the router to have more flexible IPv6 management to function similarly to IPv4.
Despite numerous configuration attempts and upgrading to the latest firmware, the ER605 still cannot adequately distribute IPv6 internally, affecting IPv6 connectivity in a multi-ISP environment with load balancing. Other routers on the market, such as the Tenda AX5700, are capable of distributing IPv6 internally even without prefix delegation, suggesting that the limitation lies in the current firmware configuration of the ER605.
These challenges are widely discussed on the TP-Link forum, with many users experiencing similar issues and expressing dissatisfaction with the IPv6 limitations on the ER605, especially in business settings.
I would like to request that TP-Link consider a firmware update that enables the ER605 to:
-
Provide enhanced IPv6 support without requiring Prefix Delegation, allowing IPv6 distribution across internal networks with multiple ISPs.
-
Fully integrate IPv6 with the load balancing feature in multi-WAN environments, as is already the case with IPv4.
-
Offer advanced DHCPv6 and SLAAC configuration options to allow flexible IPv6 distribution on the LAN, regardless of the ISP’s prefix settings.
With the growth of IPv6 adoption, these improvements are essential to meet the needs of businesses using the ER605 as a corporate router. I appreciate your consideration and am available to provide further information and additional feedback regarding the usage environment.
