Alarm does not distinguish different objects - VIGI C540S cameras with NVR 1104H-4P
Hi,
I am generally very satisfied with my setup of two C540S cameras and NVR 1104H-4P. However there is a significant problem with the software, I am not 100% sure if this is a problem with the camera itself or a NVR. Let me explain the problem.
I have configured notifications for 3 types of events
- human detection
- motion detection
- camera tampering detection
and I receive adequate notifications when these events are detected.
Camera correctly detects humans (not just a movement) however when it comes to Active Defense feature any movement triggers the alarm.
When I enable Active Defense feature and select sound alarm to be triggered when a human is detected then alarm fires whenever any movement is detected.
I need my camera to fire alarm only when human is detected. This is because sometimes there is a wild animal or some object carried by a wind, or a spider in front of a camera.
I find this problem critical. I have been testing this setup of VIGI camers and NVR for some time now and I see that humans are always correctly detected and there are no false-positive alarms when it comes to notifications. However Active Defense feature seems to be completely ignorant of the detection type that is configured.
There are following consequences of this problem:
- very confusing for me as an end user. I was convinced that I can set an alarm to be fired only when human is detected. I was negatively surprised when alarm was fired in the middle of the night because of a stray cat.
- this renders Active Defense system useless in my case. Active Defense with ability to configure behavior for different types of detection was the main reason for going all-in with VIGI solution.
- trust in the VIGI product decreases
- plug&play does not work as expected/advertised
Please consider my feedback. In my opinion VIGI cameras and NVR are great products. This specific issue is critical though, I am hoping for it to be solved or to find some workaround with your help.
Edit: I am not sure if this related to reported issue but I noticed that all detections are later only visible as "motion detection" when I browse historical recordings.
In Notification section I see that there are different types of detection. But when I browse recordings in NVR everything is "motion detection".
So a notification about "human detection" is later just "motion detection" when I see this event in the "Playback" section in VIGI app.
Maybe this is causing issues with Active Defense?
