Model: Deco X50   Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.8

Hi, I just replaced Unifi router with 3 units Deco X50 (as router mode). Existing I had 5 Tapo camera and 1 NVR (Tp-link).

Initially I setup main Wi-Fi but camera are not working fine (including like air cond Wifi control). This could due to Dual band. I found no way to split 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz. I previously helped my family member house to setup Deco X20 that can broadcast 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, no issue.

No go.

Then I create Guest network with broadcast 2.4 GHz only and connect camera. But issue with NVR on Ethernet cable is on Main network and it can't communicate with Guest network devices by Deco design. As I read, unless to change Deco as AP mode (which I need another router) then it allow for Local Access for Main and Guest network devices to communicate.

No go.

Then I found IoT settings. Setup only broadcast 2.4 GHz and cameras all connected with Strong signal. But the network keep disconnecting, lagging or camera just went offline. Had tried to change settings on Deco for camera such as disable Mesh, Preferred Deco, Preferred Wi-Fi band, on Deco Advanced settings, enable/disable Fast Roaming, Beamforming, but no improvement.

Before with Unifi router, even camera is on 1 or 2 signal strength, it still perform so much better than with Deco. It can view live footage with just minimum delay. With Deco, live footage if it load successful with luck, it will run for few seconds and stop, then skipped 10-20 seconds and continue like this.

Is this something can be fix or any other settings that I missed out? Really seeking for help.

Thank you

Update - I tested further with Main, Guest and IoT network, if I select only broadcast 2.4 GHz, it start to behave abnormal network connectivity.. Speedtest will take so much longer to start and the speed is so much lower and sluggish, no matter how near I am to the Deco (previous ISP provided router never experience such issue with 2.4 GHz). I tested by setup all 3 (Main, Guest, IoT) with 2.4 GHz only and get Tapo camera connected to it, and all had the same symptom. It seem issue more related to the 2.4 GHz is not working properly..

Hi, thanks for posting question here.

Could you please share your exact network topology? And how do you connect your each Deco? And what are the models of your Tapo cameras?

To assist you efficiently, I've forwarded your case to the TP-Link support engineers who will contact you with your registered email address later. Please pay attention to your email box for follow-up.

@Marvin_S Thanks for your reply. I had response to the Support Engineer.

Will post the same here if anyone can help or advice. Thank you.

I had a ISP provided Modem, connected via Ethernet cable to Main Deco X50 (setup as Router), and to 2 units of Deco X50 downstairs wireless.

Tapo cameras I had are C310 (1 unit), C320WS (1 unit), C220 (4 units).

So far my overall experience as tested I found the 2.4 GHz for Main Wifi, Guest Wifi and IoT Wifi are all not stable and most of the time unusable (this include fail to connect, or connected and saying no network).
