What kind of storage do you use?

Micro SD-card? What's your setup like?

With a micro-SD card, it should work.

If you are using VMS, and you log in your camera, you gotta check your version. Is it personal or enterprise?

Enterprise does not require a micro-SD. But you are required to use: Admin>System Settings > enable Attach  Alarm Image.

I am using a SD-card. The camera is a standalone camera without any NVR or VMS. It is connected via PoE to my router. This has been my setup from ~8 months and it used to show the snapshot but that stopped at some point.

  @ledebe bump. Same problem here. Thumbnail previews also don't show up on mine, including on the live view MicroSD previews itself. I wonder if it's an app issue or a firmware camera issue. My other camera of the same model doesn't have this problem. Camera is VIGI-C340 (4mm) using a Sandisk microSD 256gb

  @ledebe hmm. Did you revert back to an older firmware? I wonder how you did it. I have the latest firmware on my camera and it was by upgrading to the lastest version that this sort of thing happened.

  @Sniperassault20 Yes, after the update, I first installed the previous firmware version which worked well with the camera. In fact, I was okay with using that firmware since there was no thumbnail issue. But then I thought that I could try to install the new firmware from a file (Local Update) and it worked well after that.

  @ledebe does tp-link keep old firmware versions? I need to downgrade fast so those thumbnails show up again.

  @Sniperassault20 Yes, check the Support page. All releases are there. Since the most recent version is faster for me, try downgrading and then upgrading to the most recent version to see if that fixes the issue.

  @ledebe I have tried everything with this. From clearing the cache itself in the app to downloading and manually downgrading every version and even turning it off and on. Nothing has worked. I wonder what the problem could be. I give up on this :(

  @Sniperassault20 If the previous recordings are not important, I would try to reset and format the camera and SD card, then update to the latest firmware and then restart the camera. If this does not work, then I would give up.
