Model: EAP623-Outdoor HD
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0

Hello,

I'm running out of patience. We have installed 3x EAP623-HD in a public place.

On one side there is currently an ER605 as a router and an ES205GP PoE switch supplying the first AP.

On the opposite side is another AP that connects to the first AP via wifi. There is also an ES205GP PoE switch for the third AP. See also photos.

It happens again and again that the APs log off. After a restart, everything is OK for 2-3 days.

We first suspected the Netgear switches and have now replaced everything with Omada ES205GP. Now we have a standardised system. However, the problem is still there.

Or is it possibly due to the 1.4.0 firmware that we installed beforehand as a test? Could I downgrade or will the settings be reset?

It's embarrassing for us that the public WLAN doesn't work properly all the time...

I hope that you can help me.

 Good morning,

I think I've found the error myself. I have now activated the channel limit for EU regulations. This was previously deactivated. Since then the APs have been stable.

I will continue to monitor this.

Hi  @TW_EPC

What do you mean by the APs log off? Do you mean they will be disconnected on the controller and lose the Internet access?

Is the issue also happening on the first AP? Or only the mesh AP and the third AP?

How long is the mesh AP from the first AP? is it clear of sight?

If possible, you may move it closer to the first AP.

Good morning Vincent,

Yes exactly, the APs then log off and have no internet connection.

There are actually two scenarios: Once the first AP logs off, then of course the mesh AP and the third AP are also offline. Sometimes the Mesh AP is offline and the third one is ‘isolated’.

It's not always possible to say for sure.

As you can see from the screenshot, the connection to the Mesh AP is excellent at 90%. Signal strength at -54 dBm. That should be more than enough.

Hi  @TW_EPC

If it's the first AP disconneted causing all EAPs disconnected, then it's not a mesh issue, we don't need to consider moving mesh AP closer.

We may troubleshoot from the first AP. Did you check the wired connection to it?

Please change the cable and switch port to have a try.

In the meantime, you may try the following pre-release version, it enhanced the stability of the EAP unit.

EAP610-outdoor|EAP610|EAP620 HD|EAP660 HD|EAP623-outdoor HD|EAP625-outdoor|EAP650-Wall|EAP655-Wall

Hi Vincent,

of course it was stupid to install 1.4.0 first and then replace the Netgear switches with Omada. The 1.4.1 is new today - correct?

I'll test it. I also had the feeling that it ran worse after the update to 1.4.0.

The cable is actually fine. Also does gigabit. Switch is just new. But I'll keep an eye on it.

Hi Vincent,

Update went through. The Mesh AP is now isolated again. So is the switch and the other third AP.

This is exactly the problem that keeps occurring. I hate it.
