Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi! I'm an IT tech but more of a software guy, so I struggle with some of this IP stuff.

I have an ER605 at the moment (have a newer one on the way). I have 2 WAN sources - one is Breezeline Cable Broadband at 1G and the other is my TMobile 5G. I have load balancing turned on with the idea being that most of the traffic will go through the 1G and it will use the TMobile where needed. I also have a Deco mesh network connected as my interface from the home.

Normally works great. But, now I have a new job and my work requires a VPN connection. The one on this work laptop is the F5 Big-IP VPN. When I'm on my setup, it gives me an error connecting and the error says that it lost the connection due to switching IP addresses. Thing is, I switched off load balancing and still got the error.

There are a lot of variables, so I am not sure where to start. Can someone make some recommendations of things to try? I've connected to the deco mesh with both wired and wireless. I also believe I connected to the TMobile network via wifi and I think it gave me the error - so maybe it could be a setting on the TMobile 5G?

Update - I just read a little more on the TMobile site and maybe my problem is because of the cellular IP switch.  If that's the issue, would configuring something like Nord VPN on the Omada controller help keep the IP address fixed?

Any help appreciated.

  @BrianColsOhio

F5 BIG-IP VPN is a VPN software from the new company that they require you to use?

I am not sure I can interpret what that means because it is a third-party software. You can contact their support regarding this.

But I am pretty sure that would not be a problem for the router or load balance.

The VPN connection you created should not be balanced as load balance can tell the traffic and the VPN tunnel from the LAN and determine when it should be balanced.

This should not be a problem with any of the hardware. The most important thing now is to learn what that error means.

I might suggest you try the Policy Routing and set this computer which is gonna connect to the VPN to travel through the fiber line. And see if that fixes the problem.
