Deco So Many Log Entries
I was having internet drops that I believe were a problem on the WAN between my ISP provided router and my ISP's modem. Rebooting the ISP's modem always restored internet. The ISP replaced the modem, I replaced the Ethernet cable and I replaced the ISP's router with a Deco X50 mesh system. None of this fixed the problem.
I set the Deco to re-boot at 3am every day. This appears to have fixed the problem.
When I log into the Deco using the Lan interface and I examine the logs, I find that the logs are filling (in the order of 11,200 entries) more often than once every 24 hours. Is this normal?
Around 60% of the entries are one of the following two which come together:
Fri Aug 1 06:20:24 2025 daemon.notice pppd[1515]: len < 0
Fri Aug 1 06:20:24 2025 daemon.notice netifd: internet (1515): len < 0
How many log entries per day would be considered normal?
What do these two log entries mean? Should they worry me?
Would such high amounts of log traffic be likely to corrupt the Deco and lead to Wan port disconnections?
In the last half hour I have added a Netgear GS105 switch between the modem and the main Deco. I hoped it might stop malformed WAN packets getting to the Deco. But they still seem to be getting through.
What should I do? I would like to disable the daily reboot and solve the underlying problem.
I am in Australia connected to the NBN network and TPG is my ISP. I have contacted TPG but they aren't much help.
