I have a TL-ER7206 hardware version V1.0. It's working okay.

I have a chance to buy a NIB TL-ER7206, hardware version 2.6

 

Other than the v2.6 having a USB port (which I'm not sure I'd use), is it worth the upgrade?

 

I assume my existing cfg file would not be plug & play between them, I'd have to reeneter all the details from the old to the new.

PS: The TP-Link product page sells the TL-ER7206 hw v2.20. But there is a v2.6 version of code on the firmware download page.

v1 is EOL and hasnt recieved a firmware update for over a year now. 

 

v2 is still in support, had better hardware (specifically things like VPN throughput and concurrent sessions) and supports all the latest features being introduced into the Omada system,

 

v2 / 2.2 / 2.6 are the same exact hardware and firmware, just denotes a different factory of manufacture

Main: ER8411 x1, SG3428X x1, SG3452 x1, SG2428LP x1, SG3210 x1, SG2218P x1, SG2008P x3, ES208G x1, EAP650 x6 Remote: ER7206 v2 x1, ER605 v2 x3, SG2008P x2, EAP650 x2, ES205G x1 Controller: OC300

Thanks. I got a v6.0 from eBay for 120 dollars to replace my v1.0. Is it safe to assume the v1.0's cfg file is not plug & play with the v6.0?

no it is not, has to be redone from scratch
