I've been having issues where the autoimations fail to run consecutively. I'll leave, Leave automation runs, but when I retur, Arrive automation does not run. Also when I am at home, the automations will run randomly.

Last night, for example, automations triggered three times over the course of about six hours with me never leaving the house. The cameras were in Home mode when this started. Arrive, Leave and then Arrive again. The last two were overnight while I was asleep. The app was in Arrive/Home mode when I woke up, and when I left the house, the Leave automation failed to trigger. I set it manually. When I returned home, the Arrive automation failed to trigger. I got notifications and recordings over the next ten minutes while I was moving about in range of the cameras.  I decided that I would leave it be to see if it corrected on it's own. It did not.

But wait, there's more!!!

Tthere was another failure here. A couple hours later, when a friend showed up to help me with some  yardwork, the cameras were still showing that they were in Away mode and privacy mode was deactivated. I could readily view all cameras. But here is the failure-I got ZERO notifications from any activity while we were moving about in full view of four cameras over the next 30 minutes.  I decided to look at the recordings, and see what was captured, and there was NOTHING.

Going into camera settings, I discovered that not only were Notifications turned off on all cameras, but Detection was turned off for ALL detections on ALL cameras as well. I did NOT change these settings. And there are no automations set to change the notification or detection settings. I believe this has happened once befopre, but I chalked it up to user error as it was when I first got the cameras, and maybe just didn't set it. I KNOW that is not the case this time. Just a couple hours prior, I got notifications AND recordings, and made NO changes to any settings. I know they were right, becuase I just recently reset everything again, which I have doen multiple times over the last couple weeks and also going back and forth with tech supprot on the automations issue. Again, notifications and detections were on as I received BOTH just a coouple hours prior, and I made NO changes in the app.

So, HOW exactly does this happen?

Did you manually enable the camera Home/Away mode feature? How to edit Home and Away Mode for Tapo Cameras on the Tapo app

After activating these two modes, any cameras added to the list will immediately adjust their settings accordingly. The home/away mode isn't technically a mode with on and off statuses. Instead, it's a shortcut that modifies camera settings each time it is triggered.

Is your TP-Link account shared with anyone? Have you logged into the Tapo app on multiple mobile devices? If someone activates the home/away mode after you arrive home or leave, even though the camera has already adjusted its status according to the geo-fencing automation settings, the camera's configuration will be changed due to this manual activation.
