Cant set Wan IP and Lan IP to same subnet on AX55 Pro AX3000
Hi all,
I understand that this is not a normal issue people would come across as in most situations, routers such as mine wouldnt or shouldnt be used in this way but i have an extremely neich situation where i want to set my Wan IP and Lan IP to have the same subnet but the router specifically wont let me.
I have set up the router as a 2nd router in a shared house specifically for my room, i would usually use AP mode but there are specific features that are disabled when running in AP mode such as VPN client and server, QoS etc, i have NAT passthrough on the primary router set up to allow another router to use its own NAT routing system for which my AX55 Pro apparently doesnt have support for and is currently giving me double NAT which at this time isnt a major issue but will have to be addressed at some point.
my question is, is there a way to bypass TP-Links controls to allow me to set my WAN IP and LAN IP to use the same subnet or enable most Router features when running in AP mode? i have a whole IP address range and subnet assigned on the main router for my 2nd router and devices. in this case my routers WAN IP would be 172.18.114.1 and the address range reserved for my devices is 172.18.114.2-248, I can set the WAN IP to 172.18.114.1 no problem and every device connected to my router will work fine just without the features i want, but the moment i try to set my LAN IP of my router to 172.18.114.1, it kicks up the "WAN IP address and LAN IP address cannot be in the same subnet" error.
any tips on what i can do?
Kind Regards,
Liminal
