Deco S7 firmware upgrade fail
Hello,
Could someone tell me why I'm not able to update my firmware?
I'm running 1.5.2 and I'm not able to update to 1.6.1.
I have followed the instruction on the tp-link website, and tried to update through the web UI as I don't have the firmware update option in the App.
I have downloaded the 1.6.1 firmware, and when I click on update, it gives the following message - Upgrade failed. Please select the latest version of firmware to upgrade.

Try rebooting your deco's 1st by using the reboot option in the app then try the upgrade again. If it fails try changing your DNS to either 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 for more info on how to change your DNS use the following link https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1855/
Once you change your DNS try the update again if it still fails let us know

You might need to update from 1.5.6 to 1.6.0 first, then to 1.6.1.

@David-TP Version 1.6.0 is for Hardware V1.2 only and is not available for V1.0, so that stepwise approach isn't possible on this hardware.
I am also getting the same upgrade error as the OP in this thread. Firmware 1.6.1 gives and error and says you need to download the latest version of the firmware, which we have...

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Deco S7_V1.0 and V1.2 shared the same firmware bin file. The 1.6.0 firmware download link of V1.0 is also suitable for V1.2.

@ARGamingPK1 yes, I know this. I had also seen the 1.6.0 firmware was available from the download site for V1.2 hardware, but as I have V1.0 and the site warns in capital red letters not to use firmware intended for other hardware versions, I didn't download it until David had said it was safe to use. It would be better if they also linked it for both hardware versions as other users will not know they can use the same firmware on both given the warnings on the download site.
