Model: TL-WR3002X
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hi TP-Link,

I am using the TL-WR3002X (AX3000), but its performance as a "travel" router is severely hindered by a major software flaw.

The Issue:

Every time the device is unplugged, it loses the current time and resets to October 2025.

The Impact:

Because the date is wrong at startup, WISP (Hotspot) and USB tethering fail to connect because security certificates appear "invalid" or "expired." This creates a loop: the router can't get internet because the time is wrong, and it can't fix the time because it has no internet.

Requested Improvements:

Memory Save:

Have the router save the last known time to flash memory so it doesn't jump back months/years on reboot.

Auto-App Sync:

The Tether App should automatically sync the phone’s time to the router upon connection without manual menu navigation.

NTP Priority:

Allow the router to sync time before finalizing secure handshakes.

As a travel router, it shouldn't require manual intervention every time I plug it into a new socket. Please address this in the next firmware.

Best regards,

Hello @87530875254478 ,

Welcome to our community.

May I know when you bought the router?

Do you mean the router automatically resets whenever you disconnect the power? And the default time is October 2025? Even if you don't manually reset it.

Did you notice when this happened? Please confirm the router is up to date.

To restore your backup files, refer to page 106 of the TL-WR3002X(EU)_V1_User Guide

  @Joseph-TP

Router is up to date.

Bought December 2025

It doesn't resets, settings are saved.

As stated in the comment the time resets to october 2025 each time it is disconnected from power.

When plugged in, and no Internet connection is available to get the time, it defaults to october 2025. Thats it.
